Women in Business
Entrepreneurs
Women business is the fastest growing sector of the American economy.
- Over 10.6 million women-owned businesses employ 27.5 million people
and contribute $3.6 trillion to the economy.
- Nearly half (48%) of all privately held businesses in the U.S.
are owned 50% or more by women.
- The number of women-owned firms has grown 28% during the past seven
years.
- The purchasing power of women-owned business is over $100 billion
annually.
However, women continue to face unique obstacles in the world of
business:
- Work/life balance.
- Subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle prejudices in the business environment.
- Lack of clear roadmaps for success on their own terms.
We specialize in working with women and family-owned businesses and will
help you find the right balance whether you are getting started, growing
your business to the next level or simply looking for that elusive sense
balance in your life.
Executive Women
In his book, Re-Imagine, business guru Tom Peters tells us that
women represent the fastest growing segment of business in America and
make the majority of purchasing decisions in our society, but the “mindset
of American enterprise seems to be mostly masculine.” Despite much
more equality in the workplace than in the past, there are only seven
Fortune 500 companies with female chairpersons! His conclusion: “In
a world where talent is primary—particularly in executive positions—the
most overlooked piece of the [talent] equation is women!”
More and more women are realizing the traditional path of success offered
by corporate America is inappropriate for their life styles and ambitions.
Leadership in women is not a quality that can be developed by following
ten easy steps to management or by copying male models of leadership.
Women leaders need to draw on their unique life experiences, their sense
of identity, their organizational skills, and balance their priorities
and environment.
We provide both individual and group coaching to help you address key
issues:
- What is my unique leadership style and how can I make it work
for me in my organization?
- How can I achieve what I want and be true to myself?
- Do I have to go it alone?
- Why do I feel I can or should be more successful when I am almost
at the top of the heap?
- Why is what is most important to me getting lost in everyday
demands and how can I gain or regain better balance?
Contact us so we can
help you choose the appropriate approach.

"A busy mother of two young children and running
a successful company, I was at my wits’ end and losing motivation
for my business. Marilyn suggested we figure out what would get
me back to loving my business. Through her thoughtful inquiry and
patient listening, I reconnected to my vision and to an idea to
expand the business in a market that really excited me. In a short
time, we opened a new office in another city. The process of expanding
the business brought back my energy, passion and excitement about
the future of my company."
