Coaching: New Skills for a New Time

Coaching is an exciting and growing consulting field that provides "solopreneurs" (consultants, therapists, health care and wellness providers) the opportunity to have personal fulfillment and income by working with highly motivated and appreciative self-pay and business clients, and provides small businesses the ability to learn how to manage and motivate their workforce with powerful, proven skills and techniques used by large corporations. This program has, in fact, been approved by the Massachusetts Department of Workforce Development to be eligible for 50% reimbursement (Course # 1068378) if applied for 45 days in advance but due to state funding shortages that program is temporarily on hold.

(If you prefer, we can tailor the training and bring it to your workplace.).

The coaching relationship is a collaboration designed to help clients identify and achieve goals that were previously out of reach, or take current accomplishments to new levels, leading to a better, more fulfilling and productive future. Coaching has been widely embraced by individuals, executives, entrepreneurs and within many corporations. Unlimited creative potential exists for coaching in the non-profit world as well.

This introductory workshop will teach you basic coaching skills and give you the experience of being coached and coaching others in a supportive environment. You will also have the opportunity to explore coaching as a new career or set of skills to integrate into your current work.

Through lecture, group discussion, and experiential work, you will learn:

  • The 7 Fundamental Coaching Skills.
  • How to integrate coaching into your existing work or start a new career path.
  • Ethical and legal issues in coaching.
  • Niche coaching.
  • Marketing basics.
  • How to get started.

You will also gain personal insight that will help you:

  • Clarify your values

  • Learn to create a strong personal foundation to achieve balance and fulfillment.

Coaching: New Skills and Opportunities

Marilyn is an engaging and experienced coach and teacher. In her seminar, she instructs attendees on the differences between coaching and consulting, explains personal and professional coaching, and describes how to build a coaching business. I found the sessions very worthwhile and recommend them for anyone who thinks coaching may be of professional interest. - Mike Oleksak, CMC, President, Trek Consulting, Milton, MA

Beyond excellent. - Debra Lefkovic-Abrams, LICSW, Boston, MA

A very powerful combination of psychological expertise and great business talent. - Judy Silverstein, Ph.D. Needham, MA

I attended three coach-related workshops, listened to approximately twenty-five hours of coach-related tapes, read many articles, spent hours on the internet "checking out" coaching websites, newsletters, and various general philosophies of coaching. I was "turned-off" by "hard sell" approaches I encountered. In contrast, your conference had many refreshing, practical aspects that could be beneficial to [any] professional transitioning into coaching. A day well spent. Thank you. - Anne Gooding, LICSW, Ph.D. New York, NY
